Whenever there is a celebration of profession of vows, it is an indication that the future of that institute is secure. It assures us that the tradition lives on. This is the case of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana on the solemn profession of three of St. Dominic’s sons. Friars Gregory Nifaabeka Aabaa, Cletus Chinonso Nwafor and James Olawale Rasaki vowed obedience to the Order till death on the 6th of August on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. As with the Transfiguration of the Lord on the mountain, these three brothers, like Peter, James and John who saw the glory of Christ which strengthened their resolve to follow him even unto death, have made a commitment to follow Christ through the path set down by our founder St. Dominic. The Chief celebrant of the Eucharistic sacrifice was the Provincial Friar Charles Ukwe in whose hands they made this life commitment. After the Mass, the brothers, their families and friends were hosted to a nice buffet in the refectory of the Province’s House of Studies, St. Thomas Aquinas Priory, Ibadan. The brothers are to continue their theological studies in the Dominican Institute where they bagged their Bachelor’s degree in philosophy.
